Why don't you accept insurance?

We don't accept insurance because we want to give you more time and better access to care. Traditional practices often require doctors to see many patients a day and spend time on insurance paperwork. Our approach is different. We offer longer appointments that start on time and focus entirely on you. By eliminating insurance billing, we reduce our costs and pass those savings on to you. For a fixed monthly fee, you get unlimited office visits without co-pays or extra fees. This means you can see us as often as you need without worrying about additional costs. Can I still use my insurance for services at Direct Wellness RVA?

Yes, you can still use your insurance for labs, imaging, medications, and specialist services. However, many of our members find that our competitive prices mean they spend less even without using insurance. We recommend using insurance for major events like hospitalizations. Our direct primary care model offers cost-effective routine care while ensuring you're covered for significant medical events. This way, you maximize your healthcare savings and get comprehensive care.

Can I join if I don't have health insurance?

No problem! You don't need insurance to access our services. You'll pay a monthly membership fee and cover any costs for testing and treatment as needed. We're here to help you make the most cost-effective choices for your care.

Can I join if I have Medicare?

Currently, we do not accept patients enrolled in Medicare.

What does membership not cover?

Becoming a member of Direct Wellness RVA does not include coverage for major health events such as emergency care and hospital stays. It also excludes surgery, specialist consultations, costs for external tests, and treatments. However, Direct Wellness RVA members benefit from negotiated rates on lab work, imaging, and common medications. We encourage having health insurance to help manage unexpected expenses.

Can I receive most of my healthcare services from Direct Wellness RVA through telemedicine?

At Direct Wellness RVA, we prioritize your convenience and health. Most of your care can be provided via telemedicine through phone, video calls, email, or texting. This allows you to receive professional medical consultations and follow-up care from the comfort of your home. However, for some conditions and for your annual wellness physical, a physical exam will be necessary. Our dedicated team will work with you to determine when an in-person visit is required, ensuring you receive comprehensive and effective care tailored to your needs.
